Fast and Easy Ribbon Headband

This headband is made out of a beautiful ribbon yarn on big needles. You can knit one of these up in no time!

Skill level: easy
Stitches used: cast on, knit, yarn over, decrease, bind off
Abbreviations: yarn over (yo)
Measures: 16″ long and 2″ wide
Gauge: in knit stitch 14 stitches and 5 rows = 4″ by 4″

-Materials-

  • 1 skein Caron Pizazz, duskĀ  – 28 yds (100% Nylon)
  • size 15 knitting needles
  • yarn needle

-Pattern-

  1. Cast on 7 stitches, knit 1 row.
  2. Knit 1, yo, decrease, yo, decrease, yo, decrease.
  3. Decrease, yo, decrease, yo, decrease, yo, knit 1.
  4. Repeat number 3 till piece measures 16″.
  5. Knit 1 row.
  6. Bind off in knit stitch. Weave in ends.
  7. Cut two 7″ long strips of ribbon yarn.
  8. Knot 1 strand onto the center of each end of the headband.

Knitted Bracelet

Break out your stash of almost used up skeins of yarn and knit one of these easy bracelets. Don’t worry about the gauge, just start knitting!

Skill Level: easy
Stitches Used: cast on, knit, purl, bind off
Measures: 8 1/2″ circumference
Gauge: in stockinette, 20 stitches and 16 rows = 4″ by 4″

-Materials-

  • about 19 feet of yarn ( I used James C. Brett, Marble)
  • size 9 knitting needles
  • yarn needle

Bracelet

  1. Cast on 5 stitches.
  2. Knit 1 row.
  3. Purl 1 row.
  4. Repeat till piece measures 8 1/2″.
  5. Bind off in knit stitch.
  6. Sew the cast on and the binds off edges together.
  7. Weave in ends.

-Materials-

  • 1 skein Lion Brand Homespun, pink – 185 yards (98% acrylic) (2% polyester)
  • 1 skein Bernat Baby Coordinates, baby pink – 431 yds (75.2% acrylic) (22.2% Rayon) (2.6% nylon)
  • 1 skein Caron Simply Soft, soft pink – 315 yds (100% acrylic)
  • Size 9 knitting needles
  • Yarn needle
  • Metal pin (or 3/4″ button)

-Pattern-

Pinned Version

  1. With Homespun yarn, cast on 21 stitches.
  2. Work stockinette stitch for 10″.
  3. Bind off.
  4. Weave in ends.

Buttoned Version

  1. With Homespun yarn, cast on 21 stitch.
  2. Work stockinette stitch for 9 1/2″.
  3. Knit 9, k2t, yo, knit to end.
  4. Work stockinette stitch till piece measures 10″.
  5. Bind off.
  6. Weave in ends.

-Finishing-

  1. Fold the piece up 4″ sew bot sides.
  2. Weave in ends.
  3. Cut a 20″ strand out of each yarn.
  4. Holding the the 3 strands together and knot it onto both sides.
  5. Make three 1″ pom poms.
  6. Sew 1 pom pom on the bottom of each edge and in the middle of the purse.
  7. Pin the flap down. (or sew button under button hole)

Measure: 6″ long and 3″ wide
Gauge: in stockinette stitch, 22 stitches and 31 rows = 4″ by 4″

  • 1 skein Caron Simply Soft, dark country blue – 315 yards (100% acrylic)
  • size 4 double pointed knitting needles
  • stitch holder (or thread)
  • stitch marker
  • row counter
  • yarn needle

-Pattern-

Mittens (make 2)

  1. Cast on 36 stitches. Divide evenly onto 3 knitting needles. (12 stitches on each needle)
  2. Place marker, knit 1, purl 1, to end. (ending in purl 1)
  3. Repeat number 2 ten times. (total of 11 rows)
  4. Knit 1 row.
  5. Repeat number 4 fifth teen times.
  6. Knit 12, increase in the next 12 stitches, knit 12.
  7. Knit 17, place next 14 stitches on a stitch holder, knit 17.
  8. Knit 1 row.
  9. Repeat number 8 till piece measure 5 3/4″.
  10. Decrease, knit 14, decrease, knit to end.
  11. Knit 1 row.
  12. Decrease, knit 13, decrease, knit to end.
  13. Divide stitches evenly onto 2 needles. (15 stitches per needle)
  14. Bind off using 3 needle bind off.
  15. Divide the stitches from the stitch hold back onto 3 needles. (5, 4, and 5 per needle)
  16. Join yarn on the right edge of the thumb. (by the left side of the mitten)
  17. Place marker, knit 1 row.
  18. Repeat number seven-teen, seven times.
  19. Move marker, decrease, knit 5, decrease, knit to end. Divide stitches evenly. (4 stitches per needle)
  20. Move marker, decrease, knit 4, decrease, knit to end.
  21. Divide stitches evenly onto 2 needles. (5 stitches per needle)
  22. Work 3 needle bind off.
  23. Weave in ends.

  • 1 skein Bernat Baby Coordinates, light pink – (75.2% acrylic) (22.2% rayon) (2.6% nylon)
  • yarn needle

-Pattern-

Scarf

  1. With 2 strands of hot pink yarn cast on 23 stitches.
  2. Knit 1 row.
  3. Repeat number 2 till piece measures 63″.
  4. Bind off.
  5. Weave in ends.
Pocket (make 2)

  1. With two strands of light pink yarn, cast on 23 stitches.
  2. Knit 1 row.
  3. Purl 1 row.
  4. Repeat number 2 and 3 till piece measures 4 1/2″.
  5. Knit 8 rows.
  6. Bind off.
  7. Weave in ends
  8. Sew both pockets onto the ends of the scarf.
  9. Using hot pink yarn sew a 1/2″ seam of overcast stitch over the sewed edges.
  10. Weave in ends.

Headband

  1. With 2 strands of light pink yarn, cast on 8 stitches.
  2. Knit 1 row.
  3. Purl 1 row.
  4. Repeat till piece measure 19″.
  5. Bind off in knit stitch.
  6. Weave in ends.
  7. Using hot pink yarn sew a 1/2″ seam of overcast stitch over the sewed edges.
  8. Cut two 9″ strands of hot pink yarn.
  9. Knot 1 strand in the middle of each end of the headband.
