Measures: girls’ size medium, 30″ wide and 18″ long
Gauge: in stockinette stitch, 16 stitches and 20 rows = 4″ by 4″
Notes: increase means knit threw the front and back.

- 2 skeins Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn!, mid green – 355 yds (100% acrylic)
- size 9 straight knitting needles
- size 9 16″ circular knitting needle
- 3 3/4″ metal button
- stitch markers
- yarn needle
-Pattern-
Sweater
- Cast on 106 stitches.
- Join in round, work k1, p1, ribbing for 4″.
- Knit till piece measures 10″.
- Kfb, k50, kfb, k1, kfb, k50, kfb k1.
- Knit 1 row.
- Kfb, k52, kfb, k1, kfb, k52, kfb, k1.
- Knit 1 row.
- Kfb, k54, kfb, k1, kfb, k54, kfb, k1.
- Knit 1 row.
- K25, bind off 9, knit to end, cut yarn.
- Join the yarn 25 stitches to the left of where you cut the yarn, purl 1 row.
- Knit 1 row.
- Purl 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 12 and 13.
- K23 (right front), place stitches on holder, bind off 4 stitches, k55 (back), place stitches on holder, bind off 4, k23 (left front).
- With left front stitches, continue in stockinette stitch for 2 1/2″.
- K1, k2t, knit to end.
- Continue in stockinette stitch ill left front measures 4″.
- Knit till there are 3 stitches left, k2t, k1.
- Purl 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 19 and 20 till left front measures 6 1/2″, bind off.
- Place right front stitches on needle, join yarn on the wrong side, work stockinette stitch for 2 1/2″
- Knit till there are 3 stitches left, ssk, k1.
- Continue in stockinette stitch till right front measures 4″.
- K1, ssk, knit to end.
- Purl 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 25 and 26 till right front measures 6 1/2″, bind off.
- Place back stitches on needle, join yarn on wrong side, work stockinette stitch for 2 1/2″.
- K1, k2t, knit till there are 3 stitches left, ssk, k1.
- Continue in stockinette stitch till back measures 5″.
- K1, k2t, knit till there are 3 stitches left, ssk, k1.
- P1, ssp, purl till there are 3 stitches left, k2t, k1.
- Repeat numbers 31 and 32 till back measures 6 1/2″. (41 stitches)
- Bind off.
-Sew shoulder seams.
Edging and Collar
- With right side facing, pick up 94 stitches around neck opening. (picking up a stitch every other row and on every bind off stitch)
- K23, pm, work k1, p1, ribbing for the next 48 stitches, pm, k23.
- Repeat number 2 four times.
- K2, k2t, yo, k6, k2t, yo, k6, k2t, yo, k2, work k1, p1, ribbing to marker, knit to end.
- Repeat number 2 five times.
- Bind off 23 stitches, work k1, p1, ribbing to marker, bind off to end.
- Working on only the ribbing stitches, join yarn on wrong side, continue in k1, p1, ribbing for 6 more inches.
- Bind off loosely in k1, p1, ribbing.
Sleeves (make 2)
- cast on 32 stitches on straight needles.
- knit 7 rows.
- Knit 1, purl 1, repeat to end.
- Repeat number 3 till piece measures 3″.
- knit 7 rows.
- Purl 1 row.
- Knit 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 6 and 7 till piece measure 6 1/2″. (ending on a purl row)
- knit 1, kfb, knit till there are 2 stitches left,kfb, k1.
- purl 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 9 and 10.
- Continue in stockinette stitch till sleeve measures 10″.
- Knit 1,kfb, knit till there are 2 stitches lest, kfb, k1.
- Purl 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 13 and 14.
- Continue in stockinette stitch till sleeve measures 15″.
- K1, k2t knit till there are 3 stitches left, ssk, k1.
- Purl 1 row.
- Repeat numbers 17 and 18 till sleeve measures 20 1/2″.
- Bind off.
Finishing
- Sew sleeves from bottom up until you reach the decrease rows.
- Sew sleeves to arm holes.
- Sew the left side of the edging to the 9 bind off stitches in the middle of the sweater.
- Sew buttons underneath the buttons holes.
- Fasten down the bottom of the button band to keep from curling.

Hi I am working on this sweater and am kind of a beginner – I have a ? I hope you can answer— on rows 4,6, 8 the first instruction is “inc” should we increase 1 at the start of each of these rows? If you can email me back I would very much appreciate it! Thank you!
Yes, you increase (knit through the front and back) at the begging of numbers 4, 6, and 8. I have adjusted the pattern so that it reads kfb (knit through the front and back) at the beginning of the rows for more clarity. :)

Great sweater! I was wondering if you can describe the collar? Its hard to see under her pretty hair, is it just like a shawl collar? I was wondering how hard it would be to incorporate a hood, what do you think?
