On row 5, you knit to the end of the row and then cast on 4 (6, 8) stitches. On the next row (row 6) you divide the stitches onto 3 double pointed needles, place a marker to mark the beginning of the row, and start knitting in the round till you have knitting in the round for 4" (5", 6").

I seem to have gotten lost somewhere in this pattern. Somehow when I move from rows 5-6-7, I end up with a different pattern then the original. I try knitting row 6 and the look on the piece looks like I should be pearling to stay consistant. What am I doing wrong?

Couldnt one use circular needles by using the "magic circle" method? It's where you use circular needles and a really long and flexible cord for smaller circumference items.
I am really new to knitting though so Im not sure how it works. I have an interchangeable circular needle set and basically refuse to buy MORE needles lol. I am going to try to make these w/the magic circle method but not sure about joining mid way through.

You have to use double pointed needles instead of circular needles due to the small circumference of the slippers.
